Joining affiliate programs and promoting their products on your blog or social media platform is a great way of earning money online. Without it, you have to use other forms of monetization, for example selling your own products or using ads.

I’ve personally searched for hundreds of products and services to promote online since I became a digital marketer. I can tell you this, finding the right product to promote and that fits with your brand can be hard, but it has also allowed me to find websites that offer affiliate programs.

You can do the same and spend a lot of time looking for the right affiliate program or you can continue reading and save yourself some valuable time.

During my journey of trying to find products and services to promote, I’ve found a few great methods on how to find affiliate programs, these include:

1. Niche affiliate programs

The first method is quite popular among marketers and it is quite simple. The first thing you have to do is open up a search engine like Google or Bing, preferably Google and then just search for the following:

[keyword + affiliate program] but just replace the word ‘keyword’ with any of your own keywords, for example:

• Shoes + Affiliate Program,
• Music + Affiliate Program,
• Clothing + Affiliate Program,
• Hosting + Affiliate Program,
• Tablets + Affiliate Program,
• Etc.

It is really up to you and what you want to promote, the more precise you are the better. Here is a practical example of how it might look:

2. Search popular affiliate program websites

Another way to find affiliate programs is for you to go straight to popular affiliate program websites, such as:

These are all great websites that offer affiliate programs to almost everyone, please feel free to check them all out.

3. Jaaxy

There is one more method that I use from time to time, I use the Jaaxy Keyword Research Tool. This tool is primarily a keyword research tool but it does offer a few other features that are specifically designed for affiliate marketing purposes.

The main feature that you have to focus on now, is the feature where you can search for a keyword and see any related affiliate programs for that niche. This can save you a lot of time and you will avoid all the clutter from other search results.

4. Brand affiliate programs

The final method I will be talking about is more researched-based, this method is for those of you who are interested in a specific company or brand.

How it works is that you go to any brand’s website that you have an interest in and browse their website for a reference to their affiliate program or a link to their affiliate program, they are usually on the bottom of their website’s pages, more specifically in the footer area.

An example of where you can find the Amazon affiliate program (it is almost at the bottom, under the page link “become an affiliate”):

You can also just search for the company’s affiliate program, for example:
• Apple’s affiliate program,
• Nike’s affiliate program,
• Nikon’s affiliate program,
• UFC affiliate program,
• Gamestop’s affiliate program,
• Etc.

Before you run off and try to find the best affiliate program online, you must consider a few things:

Things to consider

Each affiliate program is unique on its own. They all have different commission payments, benefits, rules, policies and different payment options.

There are a lot of factors that may influence your choice of an affiliate program and it will be up to you to decide what is the best for you. But don’t let this scare you, it’s easier than you think.

Commision

When you are deciding on an affiliate program, it is best to try and choose one with a higher percentage commission payout, it’s easier to make a profit this way than it is to promote low payout products.

One thing that you must remember and this is extremely important, don’t ever promote a product JUST because it has a higher commission payout.

You must truly believe that the product will help your audience and that it fits your brand. You will make a lot more money if you promote products that actually help people.

If your readers trust you they will most likely buy the products you are promoting.

Marketing resources

Some companies do offer great benefits, such as discount and awesome looking banner ads; these are great for marketing purposes.

You can bring in a lot more customers with discounts and you can save a lot of time by using their banner ads.

Banner ads can help you a lot, especially if you aren’t a great graphic designer.

Rules and Policies

A lot of affiliate programs do come with rules and policies that you must follow. This can include that you must have an active website and that your website must have a decent amount of traffic.

There are also rules that state that when you are promoting a certain brand, that you can’t promote another brand that offers the same services. This means that they can get better exposure on your website.

Payment Options

The last factor that will influence your choice is the payment option; how the company that you are promoting will pay you. Is it through Pay Pal, direct check or through some other third-party service.

This choice is entirely up to you and what you prefer. Each person is different and feels more secure with some forms of payment than with others. Most companies pay you through Pay Pal or with a direct cheque.

One last thing to remember when applying for affiliate programs is:

Affiliate programs are FREE to join.

I can’t stress this enough. If you are asked to pay to join an affiliate program then it is most likely a scam and you should either leave that website immediately or do careful research before going any further.

All of these methods can help you in finding the perfect affiliate program that you will love and that will fit your brand.
