It’s a new year and that means new opportunities to achieve your blogging goals.
Each new year people ask themselves what they have actually achieved the previous year, some have actually done quite well for themselves, and others not.
The problem is that they might not have had any goals written down or considered any from the get-go.
Goal setting is an important step for any blogger if they truly want to succeed. But it takes more than just setting goals, you have to actually take action and strive towards your goals.
But how do you actually achieve your blogging goals? Here are a few things you should consider if you hope to achieve your goals:
blogging goals Essentials:
What are you aiming for?
The is the first question you have to ask yourself. What are you aiming for? What do you want to achieve? Do you know what your blogging goals are and what are they?
These are important questions you need to ask yourself, in order to determine what you want to achieve during the year
Do you want to increase the traffic towards your blog? Are you aiming to build a bigger following on social media? Do you want to increase your sales or income during the year
These are basic blogging goals and I know most bloggers would want this, just like I do for my own blog.
How will you get there?
Now that you have identified what your goals are, it is time to figure out how you will achieve them. What are the steps that you have to take to achieve your goals?
This is where you will develop your plan for the year, it is important to consider all the things that will contribute to achieving your goals.
The road to achieving your goals is just as important as defining what your goals are. Like I’ve always been told, you can’t start a successful business without a business plan.
The same should be said about a blog, if don’t know how you will create a successful blog or achieve your goals, then you will struggle.
When do you want to achieve your goals?
When do you want to achieve your blogging goals during the year? It’s important to know if your goals are long-term, short-term or urgent.
Long-term goals can consist of things that will only need to be finished within a few months, short-term goals are things that need to be finished in a few weeks and urgent goals need to be done within a few days or immediately within one day.
Determine which goals are important and attend to the most important ones first, before moving on to the more long-term goals.
What resources will you need?
Will you need anything to achieve your goals? For example, if you are a
What if you are trying to improve your email marketing strategy? You will need to sign up for an email marketing software to assist you in managing your email list, as well as to send out emails to that list.
Resources are important for a blogger, as they can contribute to the success of a blog and to what extent it succeeds.
Are your goals realistic and achievable?
Can you achieve your goals in 2018? Are they realistic? It is important to consider whether or not you can achieve your goals. What strategy will you implement to ensure that your goals are met?
Goals also need to be realistic. You can’t expect to make $1 000 000 dollars in your first year of blogging. That’s unrealistic for a newbie blogger to achieve and you need to assess where you are at the moment and set goals which you know you can achieve, for example, making $500 – $1000 a month from your blog by the end of the year.
If you are not a newbie blogger and you have been in the industry for a while, then you need to assess where you are currently and make a realistic judgement on where you can be within a year and implement a plan to achieve it.
Narrow down your goals
Too many goals can be a bad thing, you need to work on the most important ones first. If you have too many goals set out you’ll find it hard to focus on one at a time as you’ll probably feel overwhelmed.
So keep your goals simple and don’t set too many. You only have so much time during each day of the year, make sure you use your time wisely.
Track your progress
Make sure that you keep track of what goals you have achieved during the year. Goal tracking is a great way to build up your confidence, as it acts as a benchmark for success. Every time you achieve a goal on time, you improve your chance of success.
Which is a great feeling!
Keep a list of when goals need to be achieved and make sure that you review that list each day or week, to make sure you are on track.
Conclusion – Don’t give up!
The most important thing that I should mention, is to not give up. Even if you haven’t achieved goals on time, or at all. Look back at what you did wrong and how you can improve.
